Today is my birthday and as some of you know, I threw a little celebratory party on Saturday for my nearest and dearest. It was a wonderful evening and I was delighted we were able to enjoy some al fresco dining – that’s not something that happens much in Ireland, I can tell you!!
So, here are a few pictures, not many and the only foodie item is the remains of the cake, taken the following day. I was just too busy being the hostess! The theme was of peonies and so, I decorated the house with home-made peony bunting and signs that fitted in Ikea frames. I had intended to have fresh peonies in vases but one of my little guys came down with bad hayfever so that idea was knocked on the head! Outdoor lighting was also provided by Ikea using canning jars as candle holders which looked lovely as the light faded. The cake was made by my very talented cousin. It was a chocolate biscuit cake that was divinely sweet. It certainly generated a wow!!
A big thank you to all who came and for the wonderful, wonderful gifts. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did as it meant so much to me that you shared the evening with me.
Love to you all!

THAT CAKE! It is beautiful!! Happy birthday!!
Thanks Liz! What you’re seeing is only half of the cake as the other half was devoured within minutes! It was a chocolate biscuit cake that was to die for, it was so rich. My cousin did a fantastic job of it! Xx P
