As some of you know, I recently attempted a plum crumble that nearly blocked my arteries with the amount of butter in it. I decided to give it another go as the special offer for plums was still available. This time I made it with 2:1 flour to butter which was much easier to crumb.
I layered the halved plums in individual pie dishes along with small chunks of apple, sprinkled with golden caster sugar – not much, only a couple of dessert spoons as I’m not a sweet fan. The crumble mix was added on top along with chopped mixed nuts and baked in the oven at 180oC until golden on top and the fruit cooked through {about 30 mins}.
Yum! Much better than the first attempt as it wasn’t so heavy 🙂 Perfect topped with vanilla ice cream.
Yum! I made several Plum Crumbles this weekend: http://wp.me/p2JHVN-56
CHeck it out x
Hi Natasha! Lovely recipe. Now I know one of the things I did wrong the first time – I tried to make the crumble mix with the oats instead of leaving to the end! LOL! Your way makes more sense although I did follow the prescribed method in the book {naturally for testing purposes ;)}…. Xx P
Yum!!! This looks so delicious!
Thank you! I just love a good crumble – its simple comfort food! I received another cookbook this morning – James Martin’s Slow Cooking. My next attempt will be his apple and blackberry crumble topped with flaked almonds! I can feel the pounds landing on my hips in anticipation! Xx Paula
Oh I wish it was winter already this would be one of those dreamy rainy day desserts x
Thanks Sam, it’s one of those lovely comforting desserts for sure :). Xx Paula
